My Friendly Podcast
from here
Welcome back to my blog, my dear readers! In this week's educational technologies lesson, we covered what podcasts are, how they are used in language teaching, why we use them. While listening skill is of great importance in understanding and comrehending that language in foreign language learning and teaching, somestimes it may not stand out as much as other skills such as speaking, writing. However, listening skill is the first language skill we have used since our infancy. Thanks to te podcasts that emerged with the development of the tecnology, we can listen to many things according to our interests and contribute to our second language learning wherever we are. In addition,we can also record podcasts on any topic we want to talk about and improve our speaking skills.
As homework, our lecturer also asked us to record podcasts and gave us a few options. I preferred the street interview-like vov-pop podcast type, where you record the answers by asking a specific question of your own choosing. First of all, we sat in a cafe with our group of four friends and drew lots, as we had to work in pairs. Recording podcasts sounded great fun even in the beginning of the task. Melisa and I became a team and after a long struggle, we decided on the question we would ask people. The question " Would you like to be friends with yourself ?" caught the attention of both of us, and we recorded our podcasts with the lucky (😁) people on our school's campus and our own friends. We have so much fun doing the task that we even consider doing it for fun every now and then, whether it's assignment or not.
As a future english teacher, of course, I would like my students to record their own podcasts beacuse I think podcasts have many contribitions not only in terms of language skills, listening and speaking, but also in terms of being creative and socializing.
Thanks for your attention! Now, it's time to listen our podcast !!! (We chose our background music as the generic music of my favorite series Friends, in order to be compatible with the subject of our topic.)
