The saddest of posts: Farewell time!

Image
from here Hello again, my dear readers, my dear friends beyond readers! We've been like a family here for two years. We learned a lot of good and useful things together. Now it's time to say goodbye. Before saying goodbye, with your permission, I would like to briefly explain the difficulties and contributions of this course to me.  In this Material Design in ELT course given to us by our dear teacher Gökçe, at the beginning of the term, I was quite afraid that I would not be able to cope with the projects we were going to do. But I think that we managed the lesson as best we could, thanks to the help of our teacher and the cooperation of my friends. Through this course, I learned many useful and entertaining materials that I will use for my students in my future teaching career. While doing this, I also learned how to solve a problem when faced with it. Because when designing materials, more than one problem arises, but you also learn to deal with them over time. Also, sharing...

WebQuest as a lifesaving tool!

Yes, my dear friends, after two or three weeks of separation, we came together again. 😍 I hope everything went well for you during our time apart. If you ask me, I got pretty tired as we approached the end of the term.😔 But do not worry, I will get rid of my tiredness with the topic of our project this week, which I will tell you about. I know you've been looking forward to it... 👀  Yes, this week's topic is WebQuests! Let's first get to know what WebQuest is, as we always do. WebQuest is a learning activity designed for students to research a topic, gather information, and present results using internet resources. As a learning strategy that enables students to be actively involved in the research and learning process, WebQuests also helps teachers increase student interest and engagement.  Now it's time for how we designed our WebQuest. First of all, we chose the 8th unit Emergency and Health Problems unit, which we want to focus on, from the preparatory book of t...

Get ready for an amazing tour in Paris: AR Integrated Teaching Material!

Yes, my dear readers, I am here again with another wonderful material! I know you are looking forward to me.😍 This week we're going to talk about a completely different material where you're going to say to technology, "No more, that's all!😲" These are augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). But first, as we always do, let me begin by explaining to you what these two terms mean. While AR supports virtual reality, VR replaces your vision. AR makes real-life interactive, while VR offers a completely different experience from real life. With VR, you live in a completely virtual universe independent of real life. Augmented reality blends digital content with the real world using your device. Unlike virtual reality (VR), it does not require headsets, glasses, or other equipment. For augmented reality, your device's camera and an AR app are all it takes.  Yes, now that we understand these two wonderful concepts that technology has provided us, we can move...

Get ready to party: Flipped-teaching material!

Image
Hello to all of you, my dear readers, with a new week and new material! This week I will tell you about our adventure of preparing flipped-teaching material. But before that, I would like to inform you about what flipped teaching is. Flipped teaching is a training method that brings a contrary perspective to the teaching and homework approach we are accustomed to. As we all know, in the traditional method, we work on the subject during the lesson and then we do our homework on that subject at home. On the other hand, in the flipped teaching model, while students learn a new subject related to the lesson at home through online videos or tools provided by the teachers, it is assumed that they know the subject when they come to the lesson, and it is aimed to reinforce that subject in collaboration, discussions, and projects. Moreover, if we take a look at the benefits of flipped teaching, it can help students explore their own learning, and increase student-teacher interaction as the...

We will learn a lot with it: A Corpus Based Material!

Image
Hello again, my dear readers! This week we are together again with a very different material. We have been working on Corpus-based material with our lecturer for 2 weeks. So now you're going to ask, "What is a Corpus?" Let me explain right away. Corpus is a large collection of texts that are systematically selected and stored as an electronic database. And this database is often used in linguistics to validate rules.  Integrating corpus into language education and lessons as teachers will provide many benefits for our students' language learning processes. Students who know how to use corpus will be able to learn the smallest detail about the words that confuse them, and they will be able to easily understand a grammar subject they have difficulty with thanks to the many examples presented in corpus programs. Of course, as useful as using a corpus can be, it can be quite confusing at first. This is exactly what we are asked to do today: To prepare material for our st...

From Past to Present: The Place of Technology in Language Learning

Image
Hello again to all of you my dear blog and dear readers! I hope everything is fine since we met. We will fill my blog, which was filled with all the materials we made in our Educational Technologies course last year, with fun materials we designed in the English Instructional Technologies and Material Design course this year. We started our lesson by looking at the history of technology in education and language learning. Our post and task today will be related to this. We will look at how technology has gained a place in language education from the past to the present by integrating the knowledge we have learned with what we have learned in the course. We were asked to do this in the form of a timeline in the most memorable way. While I was creating my timeline, I used Canva, which offers countless different content and possibilities. I reinforced what I learned while doing this task, there were things that I enjoyed but had difficulty with. One of them was that I couldn't embed ...

An Amazing Comeback: Welcome Again!

from here                     Yes, my dear readers, we are together again after a long time! 💖 I miss writing and you so much. Did you miss me too? 😢💞I hope everything is okay. Last year, we prepared many technology-integrated projects such as digital storytelling and infographics here for the Educational Technologies course. It was all very enjoyable, I can imagine that you enjoyed it just as much as I did. But don't worry, we will be together with projects that are at least as enjoyable but a little challenging as last year, under the leadership of the Material Design in English Language Teaching course. I hope everything will be fine. I will be in front of yo...
